Shandong Vocational College of Light Industry is a full-time public general higher vocational school approved by the People’s Government of Shandong Province and filed by the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor was the Shandong Silk Industry School established in 1960. It was upgraded to Shandong Silk Textile Vocational College in 2006.In 2014, it changed its name to Shandong Vocational College of Light Industry. The school occupies an area of 336,000 square meters, with a construction area of 171,700 square meters, a total value of 87,985,500 yuan in equipment, and a total value of 390 million yuan in fixed assets.
The school has 10 secondary faculties, including Department of Business and Trade, Department of Health Management, Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Department of Textile Engineering, Department of Information Engineering, Department of Art and Design, Department of Business Administration, School of Internet, School of International Fashion, and School of Marxism. Now it offers 36 higher vocational majors, including cloud computing technology application, artificial intelligence technology application, modern communication technology, animation production technology, art design, character image design, electrical automation technology, industrial robot technology, clothing design and technology, cross-border e-commerce, flight attendant, big data andaccounting, infant nursery service and management, network news and communication, and 8 pilot majors for self-study exams. The number of full-time students has reached 10,000.
The school currently has 481 faculty members, including 94 with senior titles. Among the full-time teachers, 74% are teachers with a master's degree or above, and 14 of them have been awarded as "Shandong Province Teaching Masters", "Shandong University Ten Masters and Moral Models", "Shandong Province Excellent Teachers", "Shandong Province Vocational Education Young Skilled Teachers".
