Art & Design Department

The Art Design Department was founded in 1996. Shandong Vocational College of Light Industry is one of the earliest colleges that set up art design department. Now we have four majors including Animation Manufacture Technology, Design of Digital Media Arts, and Artistic Designing, Environmental Art Design. Through more than 30 years’ teaching experience, we formed a kind of talents training mode in which we pay attention to the combination of tradition with modernity, art with technology, using brains with using hands, college with businesses, study with work. Art Design Department has a great impact in Shandong Province and even throughout China by cultivating a large quantity of high-quality and technical talents for the society.

1.Excellent teaching team

There are altogether 35 full-time and part-time teachers, in whom there are four associate professors and 26 lecturers, one Doctor and 25 postgraduates. One of our teachers has been awarded the title of “Chief Technician”. Two of our teachers has been awarded the title of “technician”. One of our teachers has been awarded the title of “top ten designers”, and many teachers received Gold , Silver or Bronze Awards in national, provincial and municipal contests.

2.Fruitful teaching and scientific research

In the past three years, professional teachers published 57 teaching or research papers, in which there are 16 papers in Chinese core journals. 17 teaching materials for school enterprise cooperation have been developed. We have got 16 teaching results of all kinds, 19 national and provincial scientific research achievement awards, and 4 design patents. we have Undertaken 11 national and provincial scientific research achievement awards in students’ national and provincial vocational skills competition. 17 teachers have got Excellent Instructor Awards. We have undertaken more than 60 enterprise projects related to art design in local area.

3. Strong practical teaching conditions

Centering on the talents training needs and position competency, we successively set up design foundation studio, computer-aided design studio, cartographic studio, photography studio, soft outfit design studio, decorative materials and construction technology studio, landscape design studio, creative design studio, garden landscape display training base, and innovation studio. There are 12 practical training rooms with instruments and equipments that are worth 3.93 million yuan. The Art Design Department has developed a influential training base for creative design teaching with modern Teaching instrument and equipment in Shandong Province.
